Hospital Finances Healthy, Despite Sluggish Economy — A new study issued by the Thomas Jefferson Institute shows that the overall finances of Virginia hospitals are healthy.  While hospital profits remained flat since last year, hospital net worth has increased by $1.1 billion.  More important is the bigger picture:  Since 2012, hospital profits have risen from $1.58 billion to $1.89 billion, hospital net worth has risen from $14.75 billion to $17.8 billion, and the number of hospitals operating at a deficit has fallen from 42 to 27.  Read It Here!

Thompson on WRVA, Washington Post: Inova Fumbled Redskins Naming Rights Deal — Writing in The Washington Post and appearing on Jimmy Barrett's morning show on WRVA, Jefferson Institute Chairman and President Mike Thompson pointed out the inconsistency of the non-profit Inova Health Systems spending funds to gain naming rights to the Redskins' training facility and headquarters while pleading poverty while demanding taxpayer-funded Medicaid expansion and opposing anti-competitive health practices.  (8/16/2016)
