2008 Innovations in Government Conference: Government Infrastructure Needs and the Private Sector

State and local governments are struggling to address a "perfect storm" in infrastructure. As our vital infrastructure systems fall increasingly into disrepair, tax revenues decline, budget shortfalls grow, and muni credit markets tighten, state and local officials face a critical challenge in developing alternative funding sources to modernize and expand our critical infrastructure systems. As the experience of other state and local leaders across the U.S. demonstrates, public private partnerships offer a powerful option to address these challenges.

The 2008 Annual Innovations in Government Conference - Government Infrastructure Needs and the Private Sector provides a forum for Virginia's state and local leaders to explore the opportunities offered by public-private partnerships in transportation, water, schools and education facilities, and other types of state and local infrastructure. Attendees will gain valuable insights from cutting edge officials and practitioners on the policy issues, financial structures, best practices, and lessons learned regarding various aspects of public private partnerships.
